About Thomas Ward McCain:
Born:
Adirondack Mountains of Northern NY State

^ Ausable Lake, Adirondacks, New York, where we camped in summers with family

Me, with brother and sister at camp as teenagers. >

^ Keene Valley, Upper New York State, where I was born.

Education:
Verde Valley School, Sedona, Arizona;
Columbia University, New York City;
Bennington College, Vermont.


EARLY TRAINING/WORK:
Painter (see two impressionist-style landscapes on More Images page) and sculptor.
-
Built three large outdoor sculptures in Sedona, Arizona. Both Oriental in design.
- Designed and built a 25-foot-high hand-crafted 80-string wooden Aeolian Wind Harp on a mountaintop in Vermont, USA.

- United Artist Records recorded the wind harp "music" on site and released it as an album "The Wind Harp."

CAREER ACTIVITY:
Landscape architecture.

- Built several Japanese
gardens and recently spent 5 years in Mauritius co-designing and supervising the creation of a 7-acre seaside park

including the construction of a massive wooden Oriental-Chinese style pavilion (see photo) and planting 5,000 trees and flora.


GENERAL:
- Currently resides in Hawaii.
- Often travelling in Japan and Asia, and lived for many years in an Asian Monastery.
- Fluent in French
